Over 10 people killed in Free State and KZN crashes

Emergency medical services said the crash, which happened on Saturday morning, involved a bakkie and a light motor vehicle.

Eight people have been killed in a crash involving a minibus and a truck on the N1 South towards Edenburg, outside Bloemfontein early on Saturday morning.

Free State transport spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, says the 22-seater minibus was overloaded and was carrying 34 people.

The driver of the minibus was seriously injured and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

In KwaZulu-Natal seven people have been killed and one critically injured in a crash on the R614 near Applesbosch, east of Pietermaritzburg.

Emergency medical services say the crash, which happened on Saturday morning, involved a bakkie and a light motor vehicle.

Paramedics treated the critically injured patient at the scene. The cause of the crash is not known.
