Masilake Phohlongo scored the only goal of the match in the opening three minutes of the encounter.
Pirates who were already trailing were dealt a major blow when Abel Mabaso got a red card in the 30th minute after a second bookable offence. But Galaxy were also reduced to 10 men after their captain Given Msimango also got a red card for a second bookable offence before the end of the first half.
Pirates did everything to find the equaliser in the second half but TS Galaxy keeper Marlon Heugh made two brilliant saves to deny Bucs.
