Opposition parties in the Free State have vowed to intensify their effort to get rid of outgoing Premier Ace Magashule.

The Democratic Alliance and the Economic Freedom Fighters say Magashule is unfit to hold public office.

The parties have cited allegations of corruption which include the controversy around the R220 million Estina dairy farm project and the R95 million government website.

The DA has written to the Speaker of the Free State Legislature requesting the debate on the motion of no confidence in Magashule.

DA leader in the Free State Legislature Roy Jankielsohn says Magashule should vacate the office before the State-of-the-Province-Address scheduled for the 20th of this month.

“There are two issues which prompted to this route, the first one is that Premier Ace Magashule was elected as a secretary general of the ANC and that is full time position. We cannot have a premier having a full time position in a political party which he serves and then still serve as premier of the Free-State. The second issue relates to his fitness to hold office. He has been controversial since he entered his office, there are various issues including the Vrede Dairy.”
