Trek for Mandela climbers are expected to land at the O.R. Tambo International Airport after a successful summit of Mount Kilamanjaro on Friday.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation in partnership with the Imbumba Foundation is expected to welcome back the 2019 Trek4Mandela Expedition team at O. R. Tambo International Airport, in Kempton Park in the east of Johannesburg on Sunday.

The team, led by South African adventurer, Sibusiso Vilane, successfully summited the peak of Mount Kilamanjaro in Tanzania on Women’s Day. The over 4000 meter high volcano saw a team of 17 reach its peak this year with no fatalities reported.

Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela and Nelson Mandela Foundation Chief Executive Officer  Sello Hatang are among the group as part of the Trek4Mandela campaign, founded by the CEO of the Imbumba Foundation, Richard Mabaso in 2012.
