Mutilated bodies of a 49-year-old woman and her 19-year-old son have been found buried in a shallow grave in Esidakani area near Mandeni on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
Police say the woman and her son had an argument with the woman’s brother, and neighbours last saw them on Tuesday.
Police and community members found the bodies buried in a shallow grave.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the two were assaulted before being hacked.
“They discovered that the two people killed were buried in that shallow grave. The woman was severely assaulted and hacked. Therefore the police opened 2 counts of murder and the suspect who is also a family member is still at large. Police are still looking for him.”
