The Health Ministry says almost 854 000 people in the country have received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine since Phase 2 of the roll out for people over 60 years of age started three weeks ago.
Around 483 000 healthcare workers received their vaccinations under the Sisonke Study bringing the total of people vaccinated in South Africa to more than 1,3 million.
There are currently 61 557 active cases in the country after another 5 074 were recorded in the last reporting cycle. More than 22 000 of the active cases are in Gauteng.
