Teko Modise has revealed that he didn't speak to Mosimane for two years prior to his departure this year

Midfielder Teko Modise, who now plays for Cape Town City, has written a book with the help of journalist Nikolaos Kirkinis.

‘The Curse of Teko Modise’ lays bare Modise’s tense relationship with Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane.

Modise has revealed that he didn’t speak to Mosimane for two years prior to his departure this year.

“He wanted to come and coach Sundowns and I was happy cause the team went to 7/8-years without winning any trophies, when he came there the first thing that he did he told me that I won’t be the captain anymore it was not an issue for me, I expected him to understand me better but at the time I was still a Sundown’s player and I had to be professional about it and take it.”

Modise explains the meaning behind the title of the book.

“Half of my career there was a stigma about me that I will never win anything and at some point it was like I was the curse of the teams because every team I moved from they started winning things so that played a part for me to call the book the curse.”
