Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko has commended the provincial traffic police and other law enforcement agencies for arresting a suspect linked to cash in transit robberies. They also foiled possible robberies on the West Rand.

Police recovered an AK47 assault rifle, ammunition and magazines.

Department spokesperson Pinkie Numa says the MEC is highly impressed with these arrests.

“The MEC is of the view that the latest success augurs well in addressing the proliferation of illegal high calibre firearms which are used in the commission of most crimes, especially trio crimes which continues to threaten the peace and stability of Gauteng residents”.
