North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo will be giving a closely watched budget vote speech in Mahikeng on Tuesday, amid mounting pressure for him to go.
Spokesperson Brian Setswambung says the premier is expected to outline his office’s programme of action for the current financial year, as well as its performance during the past one.
The province has been rocked by unrest in recent weeks, with protesters demanding that Mahumapelo step down or be removed.
They blame him for alleged corruption and lack of service delivery.
The African National Congress leadership is reported to have decided to recall Mahumapelo as premier, following a recommendation by the National Working Committee.
However, there was no mention of the matter in a briefing that followed a meeting of the party’s top six officials on Monday.
