Magashule remains ANC secretary-general

There are strong indications that Ace Magashule will remain African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general.

This after the ANC Steering Committee gave the assurance that it had resolved the issue of the more than 60 uncounted votes.

Earlier reports said the ANC was facing a court challenge after Senzo Mchunu’s supporters instructed their lawyers to file papers with regard to the uncounted votes.

The 63 delegates reportedly cast their votes at the National Elective Conference at Nasrec, Johannesburg, but they were put aside as their status as voting delegates at the conference was being questioned.

The delegates are from KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo provinces. Mchunu lost the position of secretary-general to Magashule by 24 votes. The Steering Committee’s chairperson Supra Mahumapelo spoke to the SABC.

The briefing that I got from his as the chair is that the matter was thoroughly discussed and the issues were thoroughly gone into and there is a solution which is going to be communicated in Plenary and I am not at liberty to say what the decision is but it’s a win, win for everybody.
