A truck has been set alight in Mooketsi in Limpopo where residents of Rotterdam are holding a protest action to demand a tarred road.
They have also blockaded the road with a petrol tanker after taking the keys from the driver.
Residents are demanding a tarred road and have disrupted traffic on the R81 between Giyani and Polokwane.
They say they were promised a tarred road by the then MEC for Public Works Jerry Ndou about a year ago.
Motorists have been left stranded as protesters have taken the keys of a truck that has now blockaded the road.
A journalist who was taking pictures of the protest action has been assaulted by one of the protestors.
The situation is tense.
