Life sentence for Khwesi Hudson murderer

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The man, who murdered former Sakhumzi restaurant manager Khwesi Hudson, has been sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment by the High Court in Johannesburg.

Njabulo Ngubane shot and killed Hudson at the famous Soweto eatery on Vilakazi Street in January last year.

He was found guilty last week. There was drama in court when Ngubane refused to accept his sentence.

Ngubane objected to being sentenced by the High Court claiming that his trial was not judged fairly and to his satisfaction.

Instead he wanted the matter to be transferred to the High Court in Pretoria. However, the presiding judge objected to Ngubane’s request.

The judge told Ngubane that he was not at liberty to tell the court what to do. Just before the judge could begin the sentencing, Ngubane walked out of the court to the holding cells.

He was however sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for the murder of Khwesi Hudson, the former manager of Soweto’s famous restaurant Sakhumzi.
