Launching Freedom Month, Kodwa urges public not to idolise apartheid past

Newly-appointed Sports Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa has urged South Africans to avoid idolising the apartheid past as it deprived some of their human rights and dignity.

Kodwa was speaking during the activation of Freedom Month celebrations that will be held throughout the month of April, culminating with Freedom Day celebrations in the North West province later this month.

Meanwhile, anti-apartheid activist, Seth Mazibuko, says that the public should not be made to idolise apartheid, and should be made to feel part of a new, democratic country.

Mazibuko asserts that current leaders have a tendency of wanting to distort history for their own gain.
