Organisers of the Khaima Nama festival are beginning to see the fruits of their labour. The festival was started to aid in the revival of the Nama language and culture.
It’s resulted in more cultural groups being established and more young people showing an interest in learning Nama. It’s a celebration of all things Nama, from their language, to fashion, food, music and dance.
Organisers hope to instill pride in their heritage, especially among the youth.
The festival, now in its fourth year, is a hit.
It’s drawing crowds from as far afield as Namibia and Botswana.
