Limpopo Premier Stan Mthabatha has confirmed Kgosigadi Mokgadi Sekgopo as the rightful chief of the Sekgopo village, outside Tzaneen.
Mathabatha held closed separate meetings with the Sekgopo Rayal Council and leaders of the Sekgopo Community Forum at his office in Polokwane. The meeting was aimed at ending a chieftainship protest that started three weeks ago.
Community members wanted Sekgopo to be replaced by William Matsorwane.
“The Premier has made a determination based on the report that he had got from the Kgatla commission and a wide consultation with his advisers and the current Mokgadi Josiphine Sekgopo has been determined as the rightful heir to the throne,” says Mathabatha’s spokesperson, Kenny Mathivha.
Mathivha says Mathabatha is appealing to those who have been protesting and blockading the R81 road to end the protest.
