Judgment against six teenagers and two adults accused of killing Thoriso Themane will be delivered in the High Court in Polokwane, Limpopo on Wednesday.

He was allegedly assaulted to death by a group of teenagers, then aged between 13 and 16, and two adults at Fauna Park suburb in Polokwane in 2019.

Themane’s assault was captured on a cellphone video that went viral on social media. He was accused of having taken a cap belonging to one of the teenagers.

The two accused adults, Chuene Maleka and Alfred Mothapo, denied their involvement in the incident.

They were, however, implicated by some of the accused teenagers.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says all the accused have concluded giving evidence.

“The two adult accused, Chuene Maleka and Alfred Mothapo, took the witness stand and denied all allegations against them although they were at the scene. The accused told the court that the deceased was assaulted by the young offenders as the children were many.”

“They further told the court that one of their friends who was in the car tried to call the police but the police never came to the scene. The case is postponed for judgment,” says Malabi-Dzhangi.

The video below is reporting on the court appearance of the suspects:
