Deputy President David Mabuza is expected to lead the Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19 vaccines rollout outreach to the North West on Thursday morning.

The purpose of the entourage’s visit is to engage on strategic interventions aimed at ramping up the COVID-19 vaccination rollout programme.

The committee is targeting provinces in which vaccinations are worryingly low.

Deputy President David Mabuza addresses the vaccination drive event at FNB Stadium:

The North West is currently placed third from the bottom.

Mabuza will be accompanied among others by the Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla, Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thandi Modise, Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu and Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi.

They will be visiting areas around Rustenburg, targeting Kgetlengrivier and Madibeng local municipalities in the Bojanala District.

This as government is working towards ensuring that the country reaches population immunity by the 31st of December 2021.

Mabuza will also be joined by North West provincial authorities led by Premier Bushy Maape.
