Hundreds of little-known messages from Tutu uploaded on YouTube

The Archbishop Desmond Tutu Intellectual Property Trust has begun uploading the first batch of hundreds of little-known messages from the peace icon on a special YouTube site.

The Trust says the television messages were recorded over the last 20 years for events the clergyman could not attend in person.

It says these include birthday greetings for the late former President Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama, messages for the Cancer Association and Hospice, as well as for the women in Myanmar and calls against xenophobia and for justice.

The first group of 70 postings is available on the Trust’s website. This comes after the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation’s opening last week of an art exhibition on the arch in Cape Town entitled, Truth to Power.

Tutu passed away in 2021 at the age of 90.
