The bus operator Greyhound, now owned by a private trust, says it’s looking to employ 200 people, as it relaunches with a few routes.
The company says some traditional and some new routes will be introduced over time.
Greyhound is making a return after it was sold late last year. It will start transporting passengers to destinations across the country from next month.
Greyhound spokesperson Leslie Mathews says: “Today is a very auspicious occasion for the relaunch of Greyhound bus liners. We are proud to announce that our first trip will be on the 13 of April and we are happy to carry all our loyal passengers across the length and breadth of South Africa.”

The Flagship long-distance luxury bus service ceased operations in February 2021 citing bad trading conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions.
Over 1 000 employees working for both Greyhound and Citiliner buses were retrenched.
Matthews says the business was purchased by an investment entity that is owned by a private trust. Asked about the new management’s plans to stay in the game with established competitors.
He said their website and ticketing agents were already flooded with bookings. “We’ve obviously done our market research. Our buses will do exceptionally well.”
