One of the accused in the Glebelands Hostel multiple-murder case has abandoned his request for bail. Khayelihle Mbuthuma (29) and six others are accused of several killings at the hostel since 2015.
Mbuthuma was found guilty of another murder and is serving a life sentence. He was found guilty of killing 52-year-old Sibongile Mtshali, also a Glebelands resident.
The Durban Magistrate’s Court was packed, with Glebelands residents waiting on the result of the bail request. The accused are facing charges ranging from murder to extortion and the State is is opposing bail.
The case was postponed to April 26 for the bail decision.
