Gauteng police are investigating two shooting incidents on the province’s highways on Wednesday evening. In the first incident, a man was shot several times on the M1 north near Glenhove off-ramp, north of Johannesburg.

In the second incident, a man in his 50’s has been found shot dead in his Toyota Bakkie on the M2 close to the Denver off-ramp.

Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says on both cases the motive for the killing is unknown. He has called on members of the public to come forward with information that may lead to the arrests of the suspects.

“It is alleged that the victim was driving a white audi A4 when he was approached by two suspects who shot him through the window several times. He died on the scene.”

The highway around the Glenhove off-ramp was very congested and motorists were urged to use alternative roads.
