Free State Stars have ended a 24-year drought by beating Maritzburg United with a solitary goal to become the kings of the 2018 Nedbank Cup at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

It’s their first major trophy since inclusion in the Premier Soccer League.

The win means that Ea lla Koto will also compete in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

Stars looked the better side on the night, with coach Luc Eymael saying their attacking style paying off.
