Four of the five accused linked to 19 suspected cash-in-transit robbers, will remain in custody after the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo denied them bail on Monday.
The ruling follows their arrest last month in connection with a high-profile cash-in-transit robbery case that shook Louis Trichardt.
The incident that led to their capture saw a dramatic encounter between the suspects and law enforcement, resulting in the fatal shooting of 19 individuals by the police.
Among the charges laid against the accused are possession of suspected stolen vehicles, theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and fraud.
Following the denial of bail, the accused will remain in custody, pending further legal proceedings. The case has been postponed until February 16, 2024, as the investigation continues to unfold.

While three of the accused, namely Asanda Maqhawu, Justice Peta and Sillo Mposi, sought bail, Vusimuzi Ramabekae decided to abandon his bail application earlier in the proceedings.
By contrast, the fifth accused, Charity Makhwedzana, was granted bail of R1500 two weeks ago and is currently free on bail, pending the outcome of the ongoing trial.
