Five people have been killed and several others injured in a collision between a truck and a bus on the N6 between Rouxville and Smithfield, in the Free State.
Emergency Services spokesperson Sipho Towa says the deceased are still trapped in the bus following the crash which happened in the early hours of this morning.
Towa says the injured have been taken to hospital.
“Emergency services were activated for a bus and a truck accident on the N6 between Smithfield and Rouxville at about 4 am this morning. On arrival five passengers lost their lives on scene and they were trapped in the bus and other passengers were transported to hospital in Smithfiled.”
