Desiree Ellis is very pleased with the defence against quality opposition.

Banyana Banyana have been beaten 3-0 by the best women’s soccer side in the world, the USA. They played a World Cup warm-up match in California on Sunday night.

Samantha Mewis scored two, with the other netted by sub Carli Lloyd.

The first goal was conceded after 37 minutes and coach Desiree Ellis was very pleased with the defence against quality opposition.

“We always pride ourselves on being defensively organised and today that showed. I think Janine marshalled the defence really well, along with the rest of them, Noko, Vivo on them left hand, Lebo, they were magnificent at the back. I mean, Andile was superb. Everybody played their part in that first 30 minutes, they put in a good shift,” says Ellis.
