Reading Time: < 1 minute

A group of health professionals in the Eastern Cape are marching to the Office of the Premier against unemployment in the province. They are demanding immediate placement in the province’s healthcare sector.

The province has a critical shortage of professionals at public healthcare facilities.

Zingisa Apleni, an unemployed healthcare professional, says: “It’s time for us to serve. We are not afforded the opportunity. We are not willing to work in other provinces. We are not willing to work in other countries, but we want to serve the people that raised us. We are here to seek help so that we can get placement and start serving our people, so that we can start healing our people.”
