Scores of holidaymakers from across South Africa have made their way to Durban. Beaches in Durban are full to capacity despite the overcast and windy weather.
Lifeguards are hard at work to ensure the safety of bathers. Senior lifeguard at the Durban beach S’phiwe Ngwane says all is going well thus far.
“It has been a very good season so far, we are satisfied. We are happy even about the crowd which has come on the beachfront. They behave very very well,” says Ngwane.
In Eastern Cape, the Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape has raised safety measures across the city’s beaches. The East London beach front has been the scene of a number of attacks in recent years.
