KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating three counts of murder following the death of three people at Ekuvukeni outside Ladysmith.
One of the deceased is believed to have been a senior official at the Alfred Duma Municipality.
Provincial police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says police on patrol discovered the body of a man with gunshot wounds lying next to a vehicle.
“Police received information that the vehicle had three occupants and a subsequent search in the nearby bushes led to a recovery of two more bodies of men also with gunshot wounds. The suspects are unknown at this stage and the possible motive of the killings has not been established yet. Police are appealing to anyone who might have any information that might assist in the investigations or about the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10111.”
