De Lille disciplinary hearing to continue after a new panel member is found: Selfe

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Executive, James Selfe says the disciplinary hearing of Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille, will resume after they have found a suitable new member on the panel.

This is after the withdrawal of Advocate Pogiso Monchusi.  Selfe says De Lille’s legal team applied for both Monchusi and former DA MP, Sheila Camerer’s recusal due to a possible conflict of interest.

He says no decision has been taken about Camerer. Selfe says there is also no decision taken yet on whether the hearing will be public or not.

“Proceedings now will resume at another date, once another member of the panel is appointed and familiarised herself or himself with the outline of the case. Everybody in the party and Miss De Lille both stated they want this to be done and over as soon as possible, she wants to clear her name. The party wants this done to get with the business of winning votes, we hope the proceedings can be wrapped up as soon as possible.”
