Gauteng ANC says the Esidimeni report cleared Makhura of any wrong doing.

The African National Congress (ANC) has described the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) motion of no confidence in Gauteng Premier David Makhura as ridiculous.

The DA in the provincial legislature blames Makhura for the 144 Life Esidimeni patients who lost their lives after being moved to unlicensed NGOs.

The motion will be tabled on May 15.

Speaking on Morning Live, the ANC’s Gauteng Provincial Secretary Hope Papo says the reason the DA has given for the motion is ridiculous and frivolous, because the Life Esidimeni report cleared Makhura of any wrong-doing.

“Professor Malegapuru Makgoba came with a report… there were few things that the provincial government did not implement. Professor Malegapuru did not blame him on anything on Life Esidimeni.”
