Cheryl Zondi continued her testimony in the rape and human trafficking trial of Pastor Timothy Omotoso and focused on the two international trips she took with the church.
She also spoke about how she left the church and how she subsequently ended back at the church again years later. Zondi testified that she was allegedly sexually abused every night on the international trips by Omotoso.
Zondi says she couldn’t tell her mother about what was happening as she feared for her mother’s life.
In 2013, her mother overheard a phone call between her and Omotoso where he was rebuking her.
Zondi explained how her mother took the phone and said that Cheryl would never go back, she didn’t care if she died.
Then two years later one of members of her singing group in the church called her and invited her to come to a crusade in Gqeberha.
She agreed thinking that she could get an apology and closure from Omotoso.
She testified that she only found herself back in the same position as the years prior.
The abuse never ended.
