Qumbu serial rapist case postponed

The case of a 28 year old suspected serial rapist has been postponed to the 13th of this month. This after he appeared briefly in Qumbu Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape.

He is facing four rape and three murder charges.

It’s alleged that the suspect, from Ncameni village outside Qumbu, invited women, using a fake profile and name.

He allegedly took the victims to an open field where he raped four and killed three.

It’s alleged the suspect on Facebook was using the names Jerry Neo and Mabhuti Mandoyi to invite his victims to Qumbu.

After accepting his invitation, he would send them money using money market.

During his appearance in court on Monday, he appeared calm cuffed both hands and ankles. He has applied for legal aid assistance.

One of his victims, 26 year old Andiswa Buhlungu, a third year student at Ingwe TVET College at Mount Fletcher was buried on the 29th of October in Tsolo.

Meanwhile, scores of residents from Tsolo and Qumbu picketed outside court.
