The wife of IFP leader Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has died.
The 89 year-old Irene Buthelezi died after a long illness at her home, in kwaPhindangene at Ulundi in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
She is survived by her husband and eight children.
Last year she was hospitalised for a long period, with reports that she suffered from diabetes.
Buthelezi married Irene Audrey Thandekile Mzila on 2 July 1952, and they had three sons and five daughters.
