It is alleged that the suspect transferred cash into different bank accounts he opened.

A 27-year-old bank employee has been arrested by the Hawks in Waterval, in Limpopo, for allegedly stealing R25 million from the bank accounts of the provincial government.

It is alleged that the suspect transferred cash into different bank accounts he had opened.

Hawks Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke says several bank cards and cash were seized from the suspect’s house.

“A 27-year-old Absa bank employee was arrested on Friday for alleged fraud of R25 million in Elim. The suspect allegedly stole R25 million from the provincial government account and deposited it into different accounts that he opened. He was successfully traced and his accounts were frozen during the search at his house, four Absa ATM cards, two withdrawal slips and cash were found and seized.”
