Atul and Tony Gupta reportedly renounced their Indian citizenship many years ago, and only Ajay Gupta has an Indian passport.
This is according to SABC correspondent in India Neha Poonia, who says she gathered this information from locals in Saharanpur and family friends of the Gupta family in India.
This comes after Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said that Gupta brothers Ajay and Atul are not South African citizens at a media briefing on Tuesday.
The briefing was sparked by allegations that Gigaba personally intervened to help the Guptas acquire their naturalisation certificates in 2015.
