ANC’s Makhubo elected mayor of Johannesburg

The African National Congress’s Johannesburg region chair Geoff Makhubo is the new City of Johannesburg mayor.

Makhubo got 137 of the 268 votes cast, making him the new city mayor.

DA’s Mayoral committee member for finance, Funzela Ngobeni received 101 votes while the EFF’s regional chair, Musa Novela received 30 votes.

Former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba officially left office at the end of November.

ANC national spokesperson Pule Mabe has urged South Africans to respect and support the leadership of Makhubo as they respected Mashaba.
