A special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ANC held in Cape Town as resolved to disband the North West Provincial Executive and set up a Provincial Task Team headed by Premier Job Mokgoro.
The announcement was made by ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule at a press briefing in Cape Town. Magashule says former North West premier Supra Mahumapelo and the chairperson of the disbanded Provincial Executive Committee will also serve on the task team.
‘In terms of the ANC constitution when there are challenges we are empowered as the NEC to dissolve the provincial executive committee and establish a provincial task team so this is in line with the constitution and the NEC therefore would like to take this opportunity to announce the appointment of comrade Job Mokgoro, the premier of the North West as the convener of the PTT and will also assume political leadership of this task team”
