ANC NEC to map way forward

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The National Executive Committee of the ANC is currently meeting at St. George Hotel in Pretoria for a special meeting seeking to address a number of issues.

President Cyril Ramaphosa was seen earlier Sunday morning arriving at the hotel, attending this special NEC meeting.

Speculation is rife, that a possible cabinet reshuffle is on the cards following pressure from civil society and political parties.

But the ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe says the special NEC meeting will not discuss the cabinet reshuffle nor will it discuss the appointment of the country’s deputy president.

He says top on the agenda is the establishment of the NEC sub-committees as per the constitution of the ANC.

“Now we are going back to the NEC to resolve some of the issues that we did not resolve. One of those is to deal with the establishment of NEC sub committees, these committees are necessary to allow the NEC to execute its mandate as bestowed to it by the 54th national conference.”

“Deal with deployment to provinces, because the ANC has got nine provinces. We have got a responsibility to despatch from time to time, the leadership of the NEC to provide service to lower structures.”
