A 50-year-old man, alleged to be a serial rapist, withdrew his bail application in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The man from the Malukazi area south of Durban managed to elude police for 13 years and is alleged to have raped 22 women appeared briefly in court.
His defence last week asked for a postponement of the bail application after the court heard that four more charges of rape had been added to the charge sheet following an identity parade.
The man initially faced only two charges of rape from August 2021.
Between 2008 and 2022 the man lured unsuspecting women to Wattle Place in iSipingo where he raped and robbed his victims.
The case has been postponed to April 4, 2022, for further investigation.
