Al Jama-ah will launch its elections manifesto in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg today, with the creation of decent jobs at the core of its promise.

Under its government, the party says it will be compulsory for the private sector to create jobs.

Its leader Ganief Hendricks says although they are a Muslim party, they have opened up for leaders and members from all walks of life and all scope of society.

Hendricks says, “We come from a small constituency of the Muslim community. We are now a platform of all communities. Half of our councillors are outside our faith, half of our members are outside our faith. Those who are paid-up members are outside our faith.”

“So we are making slow progress to be much more diverse to get a wider constituency. We are operating in 80 villages throughout South Africa. No other political party has the branches that we have in 80 villages. In Limpopo we have 30 and in KZN we have quite a number and in the Eastern Cape we have a quite a number.”
