A 52-year-old Delmas Primary School financial officer in Mpumalanga, Larrisa Vern, has been remanded in custody by the Delmas Magistrates Court. She will appear for a formal bail application on Monday. The Hawks arrested Vern after she allegedly paid herself two bonuses last year. During further investigation, it was discovered that an amount of more than two million rand was paid out from the school bank account to four bank account numbers belonging to the suspect.
“Larrisa Aloma Vern, 52 years old, appeared before the Delmas Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, after she was arrested by the Hawks Secunda-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation, assisted by a Delmas Management Information Centre officer, for fraud. The accused was remanded into custody until the case was postponed to February 19 and 20, 2024, for bail application.”
