KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating a case of murder after a man was shot and killed in Pinetown west of Durban.
It’s alleged that a taxi owner was sitting in his vehicle when he was ambushed by unknown suspects in another vehicle and a shooting ensued.
Police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele says, “The driver who was driving a Mercedes was driving along Bamboo lane in Pinetown and he was ambushed by people who were travelling in a silver vehicle which was unknown to him.
A gun battle ensued between the two vehicles and the black Mercedes hit the wall on Winston road and the driver who is unidentified was shot by the occupants of the silver vehicle, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the body and to the face.
The silver vehicle fled the scene before the assailants were identified. The motive of the killing is unknown at this stage and it’s subject to investigation.”
