DA leads with over 50% in Western Cape with 24% of voting districts counted

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is leading with 51%, while the African National Congress(ANC) has just under 20%  with vote counting at 24%  in the Western Cape. This is according to the latest data from the Electoral Commission (IEC).

 

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) is making a good showing at the moment at four 4%.

The DA has so far won 36 wards, the ANC 16 and the Patriotic Alliance, Icosa and the Karoo Gemeenskap Party two wards each.

As things stand, no party will be able to govern on its own in the troubled municipalities including Beaufort West, Kannaland and Oudtshoorn.

The DA, the PA and ANC are currently neck and neck in Beaufort West where they all have less than 30%.

Icosa is the leading party in Kannaland at the moment at 45%, with the DA and ANC following on 22% and 17% respectively.

The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) is the third-largest party in Oudtshoorn where the ANC and the DA are polling at around 30% at the moment.

These numbers could still change by the time the final figures are released as voting continues on Tuesday morning.
