National government is intervening to resolve service delivery problems in and around Giyani in Limpopo. The announcement was made by Deputy President David Mabuza, as he reported back to affected communities.

A long-awaited tar road is coming and Mabuza visited Ndindani, outside Giyani two weeks ago.

The community demanded that the 32-kilometre Thomo Hlomela Road be tarred. It’s a major route connecting Giyani and Phalaborwa.

Mabuza returned, bearing good news. “Processes are going to start towards building the road. We must now (start) looking (at) other matters and remember there’s also an issue of water. We will be coming here again with Minister Gugile Nkwiti to see the problem of water being resolved.”

Community representative Cedric Baloyi says, “We  are very much happy and impressed with the issue of  road, since it was postponed from way back, in 2008. We are happy now that at least we have a reason to celebrate progress.”
