Residents of Driekop Village outside Burgersfort in Limpopo have appealed to the police to intensify investigations into an attack, which has left six mine workers dead and 28 injured.

The incident happened when a bus transporting Modikwa Platinum Mine workers to work was allegedly petrol bombed on Monday night.

The unknown suspects are still at large. Some community members say the incident has shocked them.

“We are unhappy about this horrific incident. It is unacceptable for people to die like this and we will work with the police to ensure the suspects are arrested. It is the first time something like this happens in our area and we are scared. The police must do all they can to arrest the suspects.”
