Deputy Commissioner at the South African Revenue Service Jonas Makwakwa has finally agreed to disclose his tax return report, but only to parliament and the Minister of Finance Nhlanhla Nene.
This, after months of refusal by the taxman to give the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Finance the report, citing taxpayer’s right to privacy.
Makwakwa was reinstated to his position last year after after he was suspended following an internal disciplinary inquiry into his conduct.

It’s been more than a year since lawmakers have been trying to get these two reports.
On Tuesday, Sars officials implied they could not present the reports, that’s because they received requests to do so only on Monday.
At the centre of the reports, are allegations of money-laundering by Makwakwa and his girlfriend, Kelly-Ann Elskie.
After several hours of back and forth, Sars officials conditionally agreed to hand over the reports. But legislators were not buying it.
