The late Namibian President Hage Geingob’s successor, Nangolo Mbumba says the country must continue with Geingob’s legacy of uniting the country.

He was appointed the President of the country after the passing of Geingob.

Mbumba says he has no ambition of becoming the leader of the south-west nation after the general election later this year.

“If you are put there to fulfil a task of another person, fulfil it to the best of your ability,” says Mbumba.

Several Heads of State and Government are expected to attend the funeral service of Geingob in Windhoek.

Paying tribute to Geingob, former Mozambique President, Joaquim Chissano says the Namibian President played a big role in preparing the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) to govern the country.

Geingob passed away on the 4th of February, weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer.

He was 82-years-old.
