Mining is the pillar of SA’s economy: Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the South African mining industry has been a pillar of the country’s economy.

The Investing in African Mining Indaba 2024 has kicked off today, with the aim of looking at how to attract investments to the mineral rich continent.

This is in a bid to lower unemployment rates in the country.

He was delivering the keynote address during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Mining Indaba in Cape Town.

“It cannot be overly stated how crucial the mining sector is, has a crucial role to place in building the economy of tomorrow. It can play as a really positive disruptor as we set up the livers of this new economy. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the industry as we wrote a new chapter in the history of SA mining. A story of inclusion, growth, transformation and innovation. One in which no one is left behind.
