The acting president of the recently launched uMkhonto Wesizwe party, Jabulani Khumalo has apologised for the no-show by former president Jacob Zuma at the party’s first recruitment rally in Limpopo.

uma was scheduled to attend party activities at Giyani, Malamulele, Muyexe and Thohoyandou.

Khumalo says Zuma was advised not to attend by some chiefs as some residents did not agree to his visit.

Khumalo was addressing party supporters at rally in Malamulele.

“The chiefs said no to the president because some residents under them didn’t agree to his visit but they told the president to wait so they could consult with the people first because they didn’t want people to fight. And when everyone is onboard, the president will come and meet you as well.”

According to pamphlets released during the week, Zuma was initially scheduled to attend activities yesterday and today.

Zuma announced recently that he backs the party.
