Rand Water has warned residents of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane of water supply interruptions this Sunday.

Rand Water says residents will experience low pressure to no water supply for about eight hours from 8am to 15:00.

Rand Water spokesperson, Makenosi Maroo says the water interruption is because Eskom will be carrying out maintenance work on the transformer that supplies power to the Zuikerbosch water treatment plant.

“It will be different areas that are going to be impacted, it will be the three metros and then the local municipalities will be Rand West, Mogale City, Merafong, Madibeng, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, Rustenburg also and Victor Kganye.”

“Municipalities have been informed. We’ve given them 21 days’ notice to make the necessary arrangements for how residents will be collecting water,” adds Maroo.
